John "Jack" Leroy Young Obituary (1940 - 2022)

John "Jack" Leroy Young, age 82, of John Day, passed away on October 31, 2022, with his loving family by his side. A celebration of his life will be announced in the Spring of 2023. Memorial contri Jack was born April 28, 1940, in Kellogg, Idaho, to John and Margaret (Stockdale) Young. In 1960 he married the love of his life Merilee Russell in Harrison, Idaho. Together they had three children. Jack graduated from the University of Idaho in 1968, worked for Edward Hines Lumber, and founded Iron Triangle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ranching, and his community. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Merilee Ann Young. Survivors include his son, Russ Young of John Day, OR daughters, Kari Duffy of Spokane, WA; and Collette Young of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
