Glen Cartwright

Glen Allen Cartwright passed away at his home in Prairie City, OR, on February 23, 2026.
A celebration of life for Glen will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM PDT at the American Legion No. 106, 307 NW Front Street, Prairie City, OR. A reception will follow the service.

Glen Allen Cartwright was born in Shawano, WI, on April 27, 1950, to Ganem and Alice (Hinz) Cartwright. The Cartwright family moved to Prairie City, OR, where Glen attended grade school, and later the family relocated to Central Oregon. Glen graduated from Redmond High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, Glen was drafted by the US Army and served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War as a combat field medic. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army in 1972, Glen returned home to work on the family farm in Central Oregon. After a short stint on the family farm, Glen got a job with the Tumalo Irrigation District. In 1984, Glen met and married Penny, and they lived in Central Oregon for many years. After 43 years working for Tumalo Irrigation District, Glen retired in 2016 and moved back to Prairie City, OR, with his wife, Penny.

Glen loved his family and enjoyed working on projects around his home, riding horses, raising livestock, gardening, and camping. He was also very involved in his community, joining the American Legion Post No. 106 in Prairie City, OR, and the Elks Lodge BPOE 1824 in John Day, OR. He will be deeply missed.

Glen was preceded in death by his father, mother, and four brothers, Gary, Skip, Butch, and Gene.

He is survived by his wife, Penny; sisters, Audry, Alta, Allie, and April; brothers, Jerry and Grant; two stepsons, Kelly and Kasey; and three grandchildren, Kayla, Stasey, and Taylor.

Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or the American Legion Post # 106 Prairie City in Glen’s honor through Driskill Memorial Chapel at 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, Oregon 97845. Driskill Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
