Ardell June Ashton Obituary (1934 - 2015)

Ardell June Ashton (a former long-term John Day resident) June 12, 1934 - September 27, 2015 Our beloved mother was born in Ogden, Utah to Anna and Lawrence Ables. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" P. Ashton; and granddaughter, Tami Huffman. She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Ashton of Milwaukie, Paula Culp (Hart) of Gresham, Kathleen Weaver (Russell) of Lake Oswego; siblings, Donna Smith (Craig) of Bend and Paul Ables (Cheryl) of Oregon City; grandchildren, Will Huffman (Tiffany), Christopher Culp (Kilee), Maxwell Weaver, Spencer Weaver; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and extended family. Golf and contract bridge were her passions. She also enjoyed toile painting, home decor, gardening, dancing, travel, relaxing at home, crossword puzzles, family and friends. She was fun-loving and left her mark in this world. She passed into her new life peacefully at home in Milwaukie with her loved ones, ending her long bout with multiple myeloma. Celebration of life services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 10 at Driskill Memorial Chapel - Internment at the Canyon City Cemetery followed by a dessert buffet at The Outpost.
